The Suites (Freshmen and Sophomores)
We’ve created a new way of living for first-year students: The Suites. Located in The Park Apartments and Suites community, each suite is a comfortable, furnished two-person bedroom with a semi-private bath. Every group of 16 suites has its own hub of living and study lounges. Meals in Geronimo’s, the main dining room, and recreation in the community center bring people together.
The Suites are a unique living concept designed for freshmen and sophomores and is a recommended option for freshmen. With added academic support combined with events and activities that make it easy to get to know your neighbors and make lifelong friends, students living in The Suites often have an easier time adjusting to college life and do better socially and academically.

The Park Apartments (Freshmen and Returning Students)
When you think about student housing, you might envision a tiny dorm room where you and several roommates are stored for the night. The Apartments at University Park are a different approach to living on campus. They are comfortable, modern and within easy walking or biking distance to classrooms and libraries. The apartments are perfect for freshmen and returning students.
The Park Apartments are spacious apartments ideal for continuing or transfer students — although freshmen can also choose this option — and offer a more private living environment in a two-bedroom apartment shared among four students.

The college years are a time of growth, of special moments mixed with the hard work and rewards of an education. These years take on a new significance when you’re raising a family while going to school. California State University, Northridge has the perfect place to call home during your college years: the Apartments at University Village. Located in a park-like setting at the north end of campus, these unfurnished one- and two-bedroom apartments offer convenience, comfort and peace of mind.
The Village Apartments are a complex of one- and two-bedroom apartments at the north end of the campus, in the block surrounded by Lassen Street, Zelzah Avenue, Devonshire Street and Lindley Avenue. The complex includes 66 one-bedroom and 48 two-bedroom units, each with one bath.

Each apartment features direct access from the outside, eliminating the need for noisy hallways. Kitchens are equipped with a refrigerator, range and garbage disposal. One-bedroom apartments feature a dining bar while two-bedroom units have a separate dining area. Bedrooms contain easily accessible, large closets and there is a separate linen closet in each unit. All apartments come unfurnished. Carpeting and window coverings are provided.
Ground-floor apartments have patios, and upper-level apartments have decks. All are situated on the complex’s extensive green space. Family housing offers both partially modified units with accessible bathrooms and fully modified units with accessible bathrooms and kitchens.

Learning Communities at CSUN Student Housing
Student Housing at CSUN currently has several Living Learning Communities (LLCs) and Themed Living Communities (TLCs) from which to choose. These college residential programs are designed to help students connect with peers within the same majors or academic and personal interests.
Each community offers its own scheduled events, academic support and social activities. In this highly collaborative structure, residents drive their communities, set priorities, plan activities and identify opportunities to improve academic and personal growth. Research shows that students who participate in the LLCs and TLCs adjust better to college life and are more likely to succeed academically.
Learning Communities allow students to live in a building or a floor dedicated to a major, academic program or a specific theme. In this highly collaborative structure, each community offers its own social activities, events and academic support.
Living Learning Communities (LLCs)
The LLCs allows students from a recognized major, academic program or college on campus to live on the same floor. Currently, Student Housing offers seven LLCs.
Themed Living Communities (TLCs)
The TLCs, allows students who unite around a special theme or interest to live on the same floor. Currently, Student Housing offers three TLCs.
Specialized Housing Options at CSUN
Gender Inclusive Housing
Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH) exists with the explicit goal of providing a housing experience with a sense of belonging and community for transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming students, as well as lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, and questioning students and allies of those communities. In these assignments, students may room with any other student – regardless of sex, gender, gender identity/expression, or sexual orientation. This community is open to incoming first-year students, transfer students, and returning students. GIH housing is available across all room types and within all Living-Learning Communities (LLC), so rest assured that you can be a part of GIH and any LLC you wish!
Student housing offers gender-neutral housing to all students. Gender Inclusive Housing is designed for LGBTQIA+ students and their allies who do not feel comfortable expressing their identity in a traditional same-gender housing space. If you have questions about gender-inclusive housing, please email Residential Life at
Accessibility Options
Student Housing works closely with the Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) and the National Center on Deafness (NCOD) to support your academic success.
Our buildings are equipped with at least one wheelchair-accessible apartment on the first floor of each building, and a few of our buildings have elevators. Service animals are welcome with verification of medical needs. Academically motivated students will find the apartment-style housing, study space and academic-focused programming supportive of the individual’s needs.
The Lighthouse Living Learning Community is where deaf or hard-of-hearing students can choose to live. The Lighthouse is located in Pacific Willow Hall (building 6). RHA is essentially your student governing board in housing that promotes student advocacy and plans engaging events for residents to enjoy. If you have further questions about this fee, please contact the Residence Halls Association (RHA) at rha@csun.edu or 818-677-4333.
Meal Plan Fee: If you select, or are placed in, The Suites or a no-kitchen unit in The Apartments, you are required to purchase a meal plan. Meal plan payments are separate from Student Housing payments. Deposits for meal plans are accepted online during the application process. Please see meal plan payment details on the CSUN Dining website.
Payment and Financial Aid Verification: The first payment and verification of intent to live in Student Housing is due by July 17, 2026. If you receive financial aid of $5,400 or more you are required to log into your Student Housing Portal by July 17, 2026 and follow the online steps for verifying your Financial Aid award and confirming that you will be living on campus. Not making your first payment or not verifying online that you have sufficient financial aid will result in your contract being cancelled and your bed space being given to another student.
Financial Aid Disbursement: If any financial aid is awarded and there are funds remaining after tuition fees are paid, these funds are applied toward other University debts on the resident’s account such as housing installment payments. Licensee agrees to review account balance information regularly through Licensee’s CSUN Student Account and make payment on or before the published due dates shown above.
Financial Aid Changes: Changes to financial aid may have an impact on the licensee’s balance due. Changes in financial aid, whether imposed or voluntary, will not nullify any obligations of this license agreement. Full and prompt compliance with all Financial Aid Office requests for information is strongly advised to ensure a timely financial aid award and disbursement.

Things to Keep in Mind for International Students
CSUN MataCard: Your Digital Key to Student Housing
Activate Your CSUN MataCard
All residents must activate and add the MataCard to the Apple or Google wallet on your mobile device before moving-in to Student Housing. Not having a MataCard can delay access to your living space. Please note, MataCard can take up to 7 days to activate.
Your CSUN MataCard will serve as a digital key that will let you access to the Student Housing facilities, including:
The MataCard Is Your Secure Digital CSUN ID Card
The MataCard — your digital CSUN ID — is accessible via your iPhone, Apple Watch or Android phone. More than just an ID, it’s your passport to a world of services and privileges on campus.
As a CSUN student, you can show your CSUN ID when you want to:
If you’re living in Student Housing, your MataCard is your key — it lets you access your living space and Student Housing facilities.
If you have a meal plan, you’ll use your MataCard for meal swipes at G’mo’s and Bamboo Terrace.
You can also add money to your account and use your MataCard like a debit card at the Campus Store, eateries, Mercado locations or when using beverage vending machines. Some campus vendors even offer a 5% discount when you pay with your MataCard!
And, just like a physical student ID, the MataCard verifies your student or employee status for discounts from nearby merchants and restaurants.
